Dambisa Moyo elected as one of the directors at Barrick Gold
Dr.Moyo was one of 11 shareholders elected as director at Barrick Gold Corporation which owns 100% of Lumwana mine in Solwezi. She received 97% of the total votes available. Dr. Moyo is also founder/CEO of Mildstorm Group in addition to serving on the boards of SAB Miller and Barclays Bank. This comes at a time of huge changes for the corporation as the founder/Chairman of Barrick Gold, Peter Munk, retires and is replaced by a former Goldman Sachs Banker, John Thornton (Dr. Moyo worked at Goldman Sachs for over 10 years) – always nice to see a Zambian doing well on the global stage.
